  7. Draexlmaier´s Road to Nicaragua • Situation first quarter 2008: • After winning further new businesses for the North American Region Draexlmaier (DRX) realized “mid-term” the need to expand their production capacities in the Northern American Region and to gain a strategic advantage in their “North American Supply Chain” • Having already four plants in Mexico with more than 7.000 associates DRX saw a risk to have “all eggs in one basket”. Also DRX was looking for ways to diversify their production portfolio. • DRX started an investigation for a new production site within a reasonable distance – Northern and Middle America - to our customers in the United States and Mexico. DRX considered all Countries in Central-American and the Caribbean as valuable options for further investigation. • First contact in that search was the International Trade Office from Austria for Mexico and Latin America in Mexico-City. DRX asked them to make a first study for DRX, by filling a checklist that was provided from DRX. They contacted all IPI´s in Central America and the Caribbean to fill the checklist. • There was no particular preference when DRX started the Search!

  8. Draexlmaier´s Road to Nicaragua • What DRX was searching : • A labor market with available, high committed associates in a fair, peaceful and stable labor environment with price-competitive conditions • A secure and safe country to send DRX-associates to support the start of the operations • A country with custom-trade-agreements that allow interchange of products with USA and Mexico and imports from Europe without hindrances or high custom duties • A country with an infrastructure that allows to maintain stable production, shipments via Air, Sea and Land without interruptions and secure means of transportations in and out of the country at any time. • A country with a stable political environment that secures our investments and respects the rights of private investors • A country with a sound legal protection that allows to make compliance-conform business and guarantees legal rights An investor friendly country that seeks long-term partners to achieve mutual benefits!

  9. Draexlmaier´s Road to Nicaragua • The role of PRONicaragua in that Search: • PRONicaragua was very pro-active by contacting DRX for an invitation to see and meet Nicaragua • PRONicaragua explained from the beginning their role – what they can do and what is not their scope • PRONicaragua was never pushing or insisting in anything – the facts speak for itself • It was never a “seller-customer relation” – it always was a mutual search for a long-lasting partnership with benefits for both partners • PRONicaragua´s role was making any kind of contact that DRX was asking for, without insisting or asking to attend the meetings • The PRONicaragua-staff left a very experienced and professional impression with practical knowledge of the private sector, but a high interest to further understand the needs of the international private sector … to gain further knowledge to improvement of their services. • PRONicargua always kept a comfortable, not compromising distance without any intents to influence DRX decisions • PRONicaragua made only contacts with local “Stakeholders” at our request without causing situations where any kind of private interest was existent • PRONicaragua´s interfaces with other Governmental institutions were clearly defined and well organized and communicated PRONicaragua became our trusted and reliable Consultant in Nicaragua!

  10. Draexlmaier´s Road to Nicaragua • Now three Years later: • All permissions, licenses, permits were granted without major problems – mostly PRONicaragua´s support was not necessary • The operations are now in a steep ramp-up curve and all provided assumptions based on the 2008/2009 investigation has been proven correct (e.g. Labor Market, Customs, Taxes) • All business contacts we asked for and that were provided from PRONIcaragua did deliver good to excellent services • PRONicaragua has a very efficient structure by splitting their services between new investors and existing business. PRONicaragua is more than ever a reliable, present partner for DRX • All agreements between PRONicaragua and DRX were mutually kept in a very respectful, professional manner DRX is thinking about buying our currently rented real estate to manifest our commitment to Nicaragua and increasing further our activities in the near future!
