  3. HAT Composition • 1 representative from each of the 24 Community Colleges • Each representative is designated by the President the of the College as the official representative • Three Ex Officio Members

  4. Reporting Structure

  5. HAT Purpose and Responsibilities On matters relating to the academic component of Apprenticeship Training: • Recommends policies and procedures • Identifies priorities • Communicates concerns and problem areas • Provides a communication link with HAT Rep from each College

  6. Curriculum Advisory Committee Sub-committee of HAT: • Forum for the discussion and exchange of curriculum delivery topics in order to help standardize in-school apprenticeship training in Ontario • Makes recommendations to HAT on changes to curriculum content/or related curriculum matters

  8. Effective July 1, 2007 The HAT Executive will be comprised of: Chair: Piero Cherubini – Mohawk Co-Chair: Joe Tomona – Humber Secretary: Dale Long – Seneca Treasurer: Nicole Desnoyer – La Cite Past-Chair: Louise Turcotte – Cambrian

  9. HAT Meeting Calendar Members meet four times a year: • End of September • Early December (HOT & HAT) • Mid-February • Early May (HOT & HAT) Some meetings include the HOT Group HOT = Heads of Technology

  10. What’s New in Apprenticeship? ASA: • Apprenticeship Support Application • New database being implemented provincially to manage apprenticeship training information • Phase 4 launched in May 2007

  11. Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) Effective January 1, 2007: • Taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year • Maximum $2,000 per person • Available to registered apprentices of eligible Red Seal trades • Funded by the Federal Government

  13. Call for Proposals • Pre-apprenticeship – Closed June 1 • Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship Program – Closing June 11

  14. Target for 2007-2008 • The Ministry sets an annual target for the number of new registered apprentices in Ontario • For 2007-2008 the target is: 26,000
