Characteristics Of Tropical Rainforest

Tropical forests are essential for life on Earth. They not only provide air, water, medicine, food and shelter to a multitude of living things, but they are also one of our best natural defences against climate change due to their ability to absorb greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. To know more about what tropical forests are, how they are classified and their location and Also, what are its characteristics and deforestation read this pdf.

1. Characteristics Of Tropical Rainforest We explain what tropical forests are, how they are classified and their location. Also, what are its characteristics and deforestation. What is a tropical rainforest? Tropical rainforests are found in areas where the climate is humid. On the other hand, it needs a type of warm climate, that is to say, tropical and hence its name. For this reason, a tropical forest is a type of forest that is found in the area near the equator, since it is there where the temperatures are similar in winter and summer, remaining stable (around 26º C). This climate favors growth and conditions (rainfall and the consequent humidity) that benefit a wide variety of plants. As a general characteristic, tropical rainforests are less than 1,200

 2. meters above sea level, given that at altitudes above this level, it is not possible to preserve the tropical characteristic because the higher the altitude, the lower the temperature of the place. Finally, the Tropical Rainforest in Philippines requires many hours of sunlight to increase the growth of the plants that grow there, along with a great diversity of animals . Tropical Forest Characteristics: Forest types A classification of tropical forests can be made in:

 3. •Dry tropical forest- Temperatures range between 15º and 25º. The thermal amplitudes between day and night are quite marked. The vegetation and fauna change considerably in relation to the humid forests as a result of the thermal amplitude. These types of forests present colors in the wide range of green in the rainy season but also have periods of drought . Here, rainfall is between 1,000 and 2,000 millimeters (mm) per year, although in some dry forests it can barely be around 100 mm per year. •Monsoon tropical forest- Also called monsoon rainforest. It has a rainy and a dry season but the average annual rainfall here is 2,000 mm. In these cases the dry and rainy season is just as long. •Tropical rain forest- Also known as a rainforest. There is no dry season here. There is very large vegetation and very intense solar radiation but only 2% reaches the ground , since the amount of vegetation prevents it. This type of forest has temperatures that range between 23º and 26º C all year round. Location As mentioned, Tropical rainforests are found in the area near the equator. •One of the areas where the tropical dry forest type of climate is found is in the Peruvian equatorial forest.

 4. •The monsoon rainforest can be found in India , Southeast Asia , Central America , Mexico, and the Amazon. •The rainforest is found in: northern South America (northern Brazil , Guatemala , Ecuador , eastern Peru , northern Paraguay ), southern North America (southern Mexico), almost all of Central America and the central part of Oceania . Amazon rain forest This forest is the largest in the world. Until a few years ago, the density of this forest meant that the inhabitants could only be

 5. located on the edge of it. For this reason the forest remained intact, conserving its characteristics of fauna and flora. Weather Rainfall averages between 750 mm and 2,000 mm of annual rainfall, depending on the type of tropical forest to which we are referring. In the tropical rainforest there is no great thermal amplitude between winter and summer, although this amplitude is notable in the monsoon forest and in the dry tropical forest. However, winter temperatures never drop to freezing, while summer is very hot. Vegetation strata It can be said that the vegetation is structured in five levels or strata. •Level 1. Mosses are found. These can be found in the ground but also in the trunk of trees. •Level 2. At this level are plants with broad leaves. •Level 3. On this level are the shrubs. •Level 4. Here are most of the trees that can be found in tropical forests. •Level 5. At this level there are broad-leaved plants that have the characteristic of forming trees between 20 and 30 meters high.

 6. Fauna Most animals have a vegetable diet (herbivorous) and hibernate (dormant period) during the winter season. Among the most common animal’s is monkey saraguato, spider monkey, anteater squirrel motorcycle, porcupine, eagle, Tapir, lizards, crocodiles , snakes , wide variety of spiders and insects , mammals of different size as rabbits, rats or larger like the coyote, deer, cougar, voles, quail pigeon, wild hen and jaguar. Forest dwellers Although it is not very abundant, there are some ethnic groups that live in tropical forests. They take care of the flora and fauna of the place. Some of the groups that inhabit the tropical forests are: Siona, Cofan, Huaorani, Quichua, Achuar, Shuar, Záparo, San Pablo redwood. Dominant clouds

 7. The dominant clouds are permanently found in cloud forests or cloud forests. These forests are found on the slopes of the tropical forest mountains at about 1,000 to 3,600 meters above sea level. Being at a certain distance from the sea, these forests have low and somewhat twisted trees. However, the average humidity is 100% most of the year. This allows for a great diversity of vegetation covered by moss, bromeliads, ferns and orchids. The Problem Of Deforestation

 8. The deforestation is one of the problems that must face this and other types of ecosystems . The hand of man breaks into this type of ecosystem and cuts down trees in a rampant way without measuring the consequences of their actions: extermination of plant and animal species. Consequences Of Its Destruction Around 20 million hectares are cut down annually. This endangers plant diversity. By cutting down trees for human consumption (personal or factory), the ecosystem itself changes, allowing its protection to no longer be found. Thus many animals die and are even in danger of extinction of the species. On the other hand, the indiscriminate felling of trees favors global warming .
