  1. Tropical Rainforest By: Elizabeth Sanders 1-22-12 5th period

  2. Climate • One climate fact of the Tropical Rain Forest is that there is a very wet environment. The total annual rainfall is between 1500 and 2500 millimeters. It rains in the Tropical Rain Forest nearly every day; that is why the rainfall is so high. The temperature in the day time there is anywhere from 30 degrees Celsius, to 35 degrees Celsius. The temperature at night is between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. There is also high humidity in the Tropical Rain Forest.

  3. Vegetation • In the Tropical Rain Forest, there is lush green vegetation because there is so much rain there. Many trees have canopies on them, providing shade for all of the plants and animals living in that environment. The canopies help protect the plants and animals from harsh sunlight that can severely damage them.

  4. Animals • There are many animals living in the Tropical Rain Forest. The King Cobra is known mainly anywhere in Asia. It can grow from twelve to eighteen feet in length. The Silvery Gibbon species has only four percent of its habitat still available to live in. The Golden Lion Tamarin is one of the most endangered species. They are significant because of their orange colored luscious mane. The Common Palm Civet is an animal that is very good at adapting to its environment. They can live anywhere from dense forests, to agricultural areas, and even near humans. The Vampire Bat is a very scary looking animal. It looks like a pig that has fangs, and large pointy ears. It walks by lifting itself up on its back legs and wrists.

  5. Location on Earth • Tropical Rain Forests are mainly located near the equator. Fifty seven percent of them are found in Latin America, one third of them are found in Brazil, and the other ones are found in Southeast Asia, West Africa, and the Pacific Islands.
