  3. You will still write the vocabulary word on the blank side and the definition on the lined side of your index card. Along with the definition, you will include three other items. The index card will be set up as follows: Definition in a complete sentence Characteristics (3 things that describe the term) Examples (At least 1) Non-Examples (At least 1) A new way to set up your index cards.

  4. Vocabulary word: Sectionalism Definition: Decisions based on helping their own section, or region. Characteristics: 1. regional loyalty 2. threatening differences 3. Didn’t help the country as a whole. Example: Regional decisions or state decisions Non-example: Country working together as one Example

  5. This is the blank side of the index card: Sectionalism If you choose to add a picture, that is up to you. I have included pictures to help guide you with examples. What does the index card look like?

Abolitionist – A person who wanted to end slavery. 5. Secede – To leave. 6. Confederacy – The group of eleven states that left the Union, also called the Confederate States of America. 7.
