  3. Today’s Training Goal • To provide a knowledge base as you continue to train • To improve and facilitate your early training experiences • To allow you to think critically about what you see in Cerner

  4. Cerner Order Entry Cerner Transactions Cerner Reports A bird's-eye view is an elevated view of an object from above, with a perspective as though the observer were a bird, Cerner- a bird’s eye view

  5. Function Key Assignment

  6. Keypad Assignments NUM LOCK....Forward/Next Page (aka PF1) /….......Backward/Previous Page *……....Abort/EXIT/Return to Previous Menu (aka PF3)

  8. Cerner Collection Reports • Specimen Transfer Lists • Collection Lists • Collection Pending Reports • Work center pending • Unit/Specimen Log in or Transfer (units of blood)

  9. Modules to submenus

  10. Submenu – General Lab (LB)

  11. Submenu – Order Entry (OE)

  12. Submenu – Specimen Collection (CS)

  13. Patient Registration

  14. Submenu - Order Entry 1

  15. Submenu – Quality Control

  16. Lab Model for Sample Flow Each hospital lab performs testing that could be urgent • SJMC --hub for high volume routine testing • SJMC --cross-matching for all hospitals except St. Elizabeth (Enumclaw) • SJMC performs all Microbiology • If possible, send out testing is processed at SJMC using automated line • All PAML testing is sent out from SJMC

  17. Sample flowchart

  18. Sample flowchart

  19. Result Review Flowchart

  20. Lab Report Flow

  21. Work Queues • CPR – Collection Pending Report • Users – Lab Assistants • Reviews collections that are overdue for receipt in lab • SA/SF/SC samples not yet to SJMC • WCP – Workcenter Pending Rpt • Users – Techs • Reviews orders in received status not yet verified • PLR – Pending log-in report • Cultures that have been SPR’d (received in lab, but not yet MSU’d (received in Micro) • PTR – Pending test report • Overdue Reference testing results (SJMC Client Svc)
