  1. THE GREAT COMMISSION IN TEN PARTS

  2. PART THREE: THE PLACE: ALL THE WORLD The five accounts of the Great Commission are in: Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20; Acts 1. There are ten subjects relating to the Great Commission in these five chapters. Notice three points that will help us understand the importance of this third lesson.

  3. The significance of Jesus’ words. All the world All nations Every creature Among all nations To Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, all the earth

  4. All these terms were used by the Lord in His teaching during the forty days after His resurrection. These terms are fitting because He died for all people in all places during all of history (1 John 2:2; John 1:29; John 3:16; Romans 1:16-3:23; Galatians 3:25-29; Titus 2:11-14). It is His will for all of us to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; Revelation 22:17).

  5. The example of the early church. They started in Jerusalem and Judea, just as Jesus had commanded in the Great Commission (Acts 1-7). They were scattered to many other places due to persecution, but they took the gospel with them (Acts 8).

  6. Luke’s account quickly moves to examples of preaching and teaching in many other parts of the world (Acts 9-28).

  7. Points for us to observe. There is no distinction in Christ (Galatians 3:28; Colossians 3:10,11; Romans 1:16,17; 9:1-11:36). There is equality in Christ (Acts 10,11; Ephesians 2). Everyone needs the blood of Christ (Romans 3:23-31; 5:8,9; Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 9:28; Romans 6:3,4).

  8. The simple gospel is the only thing that can save sinful people (2 Corinthians 11:3; Romans 1:16).

  9. Multiplied millions of those who are now living have never even heard the name of Jesus, much less the pure gospel! What are you and I doing about obeying the command to get the truth to everyone on earth before they and we die?
