Introduction • People hear and read about GEM in many vehicles • thus they are influenced by GEM data in their work: this includes policy makers and others key decision makers • regularly cited in books or magazine when the subject is related to new businesses or conditions to create a new business. • these channels GEM results are disseminated and influence many important environments.

  3. Public sector • a Senator used GEM data in three speeches in the congress • asked for 1000 copies of GEM Report to all Members of Parliament. • The Minister responsible for planning the national strategy of Brazilian development had a work meeting with the GEM Brazilian team • The General Bill for Micro and Small Companies was influenced by the GEM data (taxes, bureaucracy, credit and market access and access to technology)

Academy • Google Scholar: 652 documents in Portuguese language websites that refer to "Global Entrepreneurship Monitor “ • approximately 80% are Brazilian websites • Gem National Report is used as didactic book to any subjects related to entrepreneurship • regularly cited in books and papers • GEM team invited to many lectures • A class recorded to be used in distance education

  5. General Media • regularly cited in newspaper, magazines and TV ( average of one week interview) • Emphasis: • Specialized press: education contents • General press: specific public (women, youngs, elders, students, companies, entrepreneurs, etc.)

  6. Programs and partners • the most important institution to support entrepreneurship ,Sebrae, states that some of its programmes were created or reformulated based on GEM findings • EMPREENDER (program incentives the entrepreneur initiative, by CACB) • PREMIO TECNICO EMPREENDEDOR (by Sebrae, towards the technical entrepreneur) • PREMIO SEBRAE MULHER DE NEGÓCIOS (by Sebrae, towards the feminine entrepreneurship) • DESAFIO SEBRAE (by Sebrae, a student program of Business Games).

  7. Conclusion • It is what happens in Brazil! • GEM data has highlighted the entrepreneurship theme • The opinion makers helps to disseminate the idea and how the entrepreneur can work to develop the country • Key decision makers have been directly or indirectly influenced
