  2. Christmas Traditions Brazil is a mix of people from many different parts of the world, so they have a mix of traditions.

  3. Presepios and Los Pastores One tradition is to create a nativity scene or a Presepio. Many also enjoy a folk play called Los Pastores or “The Shepherds,” with shepherdesses and a gypsy who attempts to kidnap the Christ child.

  4. Papai Noel Papai Noel (Father Noel) is the gift-bringer in Brazil. He lives in Greenland and wears silk clothes because of the heat.

  5. A Warm Christmas The weather is very warm in Brazil throughout all seasons. So, they enjoy many different types of activities.

  6. Christmas Dinner Brazilians have a huge Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, late at night. They have turkey, ham, colored rice, vegetables and fruit dishes. The traditional Brazilian Christmas desert is Rabanada, which is French toast.

  7. Missa do Galo Many Catholics in Brazil attend Missa do Galo, or Midnight Mass. It has this name because “Galo” means “rooster” and the rooster announces the coming of Christmas Day!

  8. Decorations in Brazil Decorations may be fresh flowers, fireworks over the cites, and huge Christmas "trees" of electric lights.
