  1. Ways To Reduce My Carbon Footprint Jeff Karabin

  2. What is our carbon footprint??? • Each person adds tonnes of CO2 into our environment each day simply doing our daily lives such as heating water, commuting to work and home, and even our recreational activities. We need to reduce these carbon admissions to lower our helping hand in global warming and to save Earth

  3. Ice caps disappearing Overall planet temp. rise Effects of global warming….

  4. Ways to improve the company’s carbon footprint include: • Planting both full and young trees • Using little to no pesticides • Using all-natural paints and stains

  5. Planting trees…. • Trees can take CO2 out of the atmosphere and turn it into much-needed oxygen, greatly helping the plant • Also by removing CO2 from the air, the planet’s overall temp will decrease • Planting a full-grown tree will start the process immediately and the young ones will grow to full size and eventually replace the older more mature trees

  6. Eliminating pesticides…. • Pesticides can harm: • The air by creating drifts that can be carried by wind to other locations, destroying non-targeted plants and wildlife • The water by polluting streams and rivers, then being ingested by living things causing harmful effects • The soil by seeping into the soil and remaining there for decades, influencing the soil conservation • Using plants that naturally repel insects and undesired wildlife will eliminate the need for pesticides

  7. Using natural paints and stains… • Using paints with environmentally-friendly ingredients inside will limit the amount of pollution that it can create • Examples include lead-free and low to no VOC (volatile organic compounds)

  8. My Carbon Footprint: • House 0.21 tonnes of CO2 • Car 4.22 tonnes of CO2 • Secondary 6.01 tonnes of CO2 • Total = 10.44 tonnes of CO2

  9. Reducing my footprint… • Simply carpooling with friends will reduce our CO2 emissions • Lowering our thermostat will save energy • Using cooler water in showers saves energy • Recycling more limits amount of wastes created • Using CFL’s limit amount of energy and last longer
