  1. FBI Agent Law and Safety Lily Nichols October 14,2013 Hour 2 Career/ Technology Foundations

  2. Introduction You may think you want to be a FBI agent because of the shows you watch or maybe even to see if “the truth is out there” but the real reason I want to join the FBI is to save lives. The FBI was created to solve the problem we had about not having any crimes to be solved. I was interested in this career in 5th grade honestly. Helping save people and putting criminals in jail just seemed like something I could do. I will be researching what they do and how they do it. You also have to train for quite a while and be a rookie before you can actually go out and be a FBI agent by yourself.

  3. Nature of Work • Respect the rights and dignity of individuals • Go undercover occasionally • Filling out reports • Research • Have unscheduled hours.

  4. Working Conditions • Mostly a physical job • Have to be in shape to be chasing after criminals • Outdoor job when chasing criminals, indoor job at the precinct • Hours are usually unscheduled and you get called in day or night.

  5. Training, Qualification, Advancement • Need a college degree • Depends on how long they went to college to how much work experience they need • I plan on going to Michigan State hopefully • I will need to take law enforcements class

  6. Job Outlook/Employment • The employment rate for an FBI agent is supposed to be going up by7% • I want to work somewhere close to home in Michigan • If I have to move for this job I will • There is no particular place I want to work at for this job

  7. Earnings • Median salary – about $50,000 • Own an animal rescue- about $20,000 a month (-) • Own a dog- about $1,500.00 a year (+) • Swim with dolphins- about $500 (+)

  8. Related Occupation • Vet • Responsibilities – Checking animals for health problems • Attending a vet college- Master’s degree • Median Salary – 82,040.00 • Outlook- Expected to grow as a vet in years time

  9. Summary After researching this career, I would still like to be an FBI agent. I expected just as much as I looked up. Even though it seems exhausting I think I can handle it. I will probably always have unscheduled hours but it could work. I look forward to helping people out and making them feel safer. I won’t be looking forward to filling out reports but you got to do what you got to do. My overall learning experience is seeing how much I have to do before I can become a FBI agent.
