  1. Multimedia Art and Animating Career Cluster: Arts and Design By :Dylan Slamka 5-5-14 4th hour Career / Technology and Foundations

  2. Introduction “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” ~Henry Ward Beecher I’d have to say that the thing that inspired me to be an artist is the unique shapes of old cars. The different curves, lines and shapes that are used in old cars, especially corvettes, inspired me to try and make up my own designs for cars, yet following the old car aesthetic. In order to get a better understanding of my chosen career field as a cartoonist I will be researching the nature of work, working conditions, training, qualifications, education, job outlook and earnings of this job.

  3. Nature of Work • Create graphics and animation using computer programs and illustrations • Work with a team of animators and artists to create a movie, game, or visual effect • Research upcoming projects to help create realistic designs or animations • Edit animations and effects on the basis of feedback from directors, other animators, game designers, or clients • Develop storyboards that map out key scenes in animations

  4. Working Conditions • This job is mostly both mental and physical(physical because of drawing and mental because of thinking about what you are going to draw) • Mostly an indoor job(unless you are drawing a real life landscape, the artists would mostly be drawing inside) • about 50 hour work weeks • Working on a computer

  5. Training, Qualification, Advancement • a bachelor in computer graphics and art. • the University of Michigan, I heard the had a really good art program • computer and art related classes to prepare me for this career

  6. Job Outlook/Employment • 11% • modestly increasing but very slowly • The employment is very low • Working at home or in office • Game creation and animating

  7. Earnings • $34,860 • save more than to spend more • Building my own custom car, seeing the Mona Lisa in person and getting one of my works of art in an auction • Getting a house on the country side

  8. Vocal Artist • Earns $23.50 an hour • Perform music for live audiences and recordings • Travel, sometimes great distances, to performance venues • Practice playing instruments or singing to improve their technique

  9. Summary • I’d have to say that after researching this career more, I want to get into it more. I am really looking forward to this because of the extra learning experience of drawing on a computer screen. Sure there will be times where a actually have to sketch it out but animating it will be awesome. The one and only thing that I am not looking forward to is having other people animating my creations. If I were to draw it I should be able to animate it myself, but it would still be good to have some help. My overall learning experience from this project is that Multimedia Art and Animation is a really cool job even with its good(ish) pay. I would love to do something I’m good at for money and am really looking forward to it.
