  1. Solar System Webquest Alicia Coyle 1st graders

  2. Introduction! • You have been selected to help design a vacation package to one of the planets in Earth's solar system. You and your team will create a travel agency that will put together a vacation package that can safely deliver your travelers to their destination. Your team consists of a rocket specialist (so your travelers can get to the planet safely), spacesuit designer(so your travelers can travel in style and be protected), and a travel agent. (Pick the planet of choice and research the planet)

  3. Task! • Your agency’s goals include: • Create a vacation package emphasizing the special features of the planet. • Invent a spacesuit that meets the basic requirements for living things on your particular planet and is capable of enduring the trip. (Must be fashionable!) Draw a picture to show an example. • Research the planet, identify the challenges it presents to living things, and create solutions to overcome the challenges so the travelers can vacation there safely. • Design a rocket to get the travelers to the planet safely

Process! • Take out a sheet of paper, and as a group, brainstorm the needs of living things. • Search a valid resource for information about the planet your customer wants to travel to. • Establish a list of challenges the planet presents. Brainstorm a list of solutions. • Brainstorm ideas for a spacesuit and shuttle • Discuss the special features you want to include in the vacation package.

  6. Process cont. • Put all the information on a poster board; organize it with a heading and description • Add pictures and drawings • Add descriptions of the jobs and responsibilities of each student in the group. • Present in front of class (the class is your client) 
