  5. Venus • It is the 2nd planet from the sun which is 67 million miles away • It is the closest to earth • Has no rings or moons • It is also called Earth’s “sister planet” because it is so similar to Earth

  6. Earth • The 3rd planet from the Sun. • Only known planet to have living plants and animals • Has 1 moon • From space it looks blue because there is so much water

  7. Mars • The 4th planet from the sun • It is also known as the “Red Planet” • In the night sky Mars looks like a Red Star

  8. Jupiter • The 5th planet from the sun • It is the largest planet in the Solar System • 484 million miles from the sun • It has 16 moons

  9. Saturn • The 6th planet from the sun • Has a great set of rings • Saturn also has 59 moons

  10. Uranus • 7th planet from the sun • It has very thin rings made of pieces of ice • It has 27 known moons. • The first planet discovered by a telescope

  11. Neptune • It is the 8th planet from the sun • It is a very cold place • It has 13 moons and a very faint ring system

  12. Sun • The Sun is the most well-known feature in our solar system • The sun is a star at the center of the Solar System • It is a medium sized star

  13. Pluto • Pluto is a frigid ball of ice and rock that orbits farthest from the Sun • Pluto is now officially classified as a dwarf planet
