DISD BOARD APPROVED 2% RAISE to the mid-point of teacher salaries • How HR calculated the raise for existing teachers? • The ‘midpoint’ is determined by calculating the average salary based on a 1st year teacher’s salary and the highest paid teacher’s salary. • 1st Year Teacher Salary • + Highest Teacher Salary • SUBTOTAL • ÷ 2 • NEW SUBTOTAL • x 2% • = $1,225 + $1,225 (effective 2014-15)

  6. What about equity adjustments? What is it? Based on the comparable school districts, if a position is found BELOW market rate, an equity adjustment MAY be added to that level. 2014-15 TEACHER Equity Adjustments: • 15 Years of Experience + $ 90 • 16 Years of Experience + $180 • 17 Years of Experience + $160 • 22 Years of Experience + $ 60 Who gets it? Each year the Board MAY approve a specified amount of budget funds in addition to raises. The Board can specify which pay group to apply market adjustment based on greatest need.

  7. What about steps? MYTH:I can look at the STEPS and see my salary for the next school year. FACT:STEPS are always reshuffled each year and are NOT a guide to future compensation. These Steps Tend to Miss Lead Current Staff!
