  2. Consultation • The consultation on the implementation of the early years pupil premium is open until 22 August. www.gov.uk/government/consultations/early-years-pupil-premium-and-funding-for-2-year-olds • The Government will publish a response to the consultation in the Autumn.

  3. What is the Early Years Pupil Premium? • EYPP will be available from April 2015 for eligible 3 and 4 year olds accessing funded early education. • The EYPP will provide your child’s nursery, pre school or childminder with extra funding to raise the quality of your child’s early education.

  4. How will the EYPP benefit your child? • Providers must use the EYPP to raise the quality of their early years education offer; • High quality pre-school can improve Key Stage 2 English results – and is equivalent to about a term and a half’s progress in Maths; • How well children do at school is the strongest determinant of their future earnings.

  5. Who is eligible for the EYPP? Three and four-year olds, receiving Government funded early education - if • their parents are in receipt of certain benefits, • or they are in care, or • have ever been in care, or • have been adopted from care.

  6. How can parents make sure their child’s provider receives EYPP Parents should make their provider aware if they believe their child is eligible for the EYPP.
