  2. Participants • Project Group – 12 pupils • Control Group – 12 pupils • Groups each made up of 12 pupils drawn from two Year 5 parallel classes • Project group volunteered to take part in project • Control group picked to match average reading age level

  3. Project Group • 12 pupils from Year 5 (6 from each parallel class) • Age range 9y – 9y 10m • Average age 9y 7m

  4. Control Group • 12 pupils from Year 5 (6 from each parallel class) • Age range 9y 3m – 9y 10m • Average age 9y 7m

  5. Initial Testing • All pupils given 2 reading and 2 spelling tests: • Wiat-II Reading • Salford Sentence Reading Test • Wiat-II Spelling • Vernon Spelling
