Geographic Offices: Oracle has customers in more than 145 countries. With offices worldwide and more than 20,000 partners and 9,100 independent software vendors, it has a strong international presence. Recent Events:Oracle feels that consolidation in the business software industry is very important and has an active acquisitions program. The most recent acquisitions include mValent, AdminServer, Advanced Visual Technology (AVT), and BEA. Its database products have a dominant market share, but its broader business applications are encountering more competition from companies such as SAP, Microsoft, and Lawson Software. Source: IDC Market share summary: According to Worldwide RDBMS 2007 Vendor Shares, an April 2008 report from IDC, Oracle continued to increase its share of the database market from 2006 through 2007. The market itself had a healthy growth rate of 12.1% to $18.6 billion. Oracle’s share of this was $8.2 billion. The two main competitors were Microsoft and IBM.
