  2. Welcome to Second Grade! • I will introduce you to second grade and to our classroom. • If you have any questions during my presentation, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.

  3. All About Me • My background • I grew up in Wilcox County. • I attended F.S. Ervin Elementary School • My experience • I’ve been teaching for about six years. • My hobbies are reading, walking, fishing, and hunting.

  4. My Goals • To give you the help you learn all the skill you need to progress to third grade. • To provide a safe and fun classroom environment. • To help you make new friends and discover new interests.

  5. Class Subjects • The subjects we cover during second grade are: • Reading • Math • Science • Social studies • Grammar and Spelling

  6. Reading • Reading is very important to all of us.

  7. Math • We will learn many new math skills. Some of the things we will do, you might have had in first grade.

  8. Science • We will explore the world of science by conducting many experiments.

  9. Social Studies • We will learn cool facts about the past.

  10. Grammar and Spelling • Grammar • Verbs • Nouns • Adjectives • pronouns • Spelling We learn how to spell hundreds of new words.

  11. Music and Art • We will have a chance to do some great art projects throughout the year.

  12. Classroom Community • Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other. • Let’s Look At Our Classroom Rules!!! • Let’s Look At Our Morning Routine!!!

  13. Homework • You will have homework every night. • Study vocabulary words • Study spelling words • Read a book Sometimes you will have other homework.
