Jet Blue & SW • San Francisco Airport • 30 minutes away ($25) • Direct connect via BART • All major airlines • BART station 1 block • connection to SF, Berkeley, and all points • Wide range of restaurant prices and atmospheres • Local to UC Berkeley, LBL, LLNL, Stanford, and driving distance to UCD

Technical Factors • Hotel has 476 guest rooms • Our block is 350 • Thus, no major competition with other groups • Hotel is adjacent to the Oakland Convention Center • We will use some of that space, however, the hotel has more than enough meeting rooms • We need • 1 plenary ballroom • 8 parallel meeting rooms • Services • Audio Visual Support for hire • Internet for hire • Possible internet solutions from LBL

Cost and Schedule • Rooms $125 per night • Advance registration fee target: ~$200 • Banquet fee target: ~$50 • 30K food and beverage commitment req’d • Dates • Thursday – Sunday October 23 – 26, 2008 • This is a pattern shift • A new format & a new experiment: • Workshops: Thurs Morning • DNP Plenary: Thurs Afternoon • Regular Sessions: Friday • Regular Sessions: Saturday • Regular Sessions: Sunday morning • Adjourn: Sunday Noon
