  3. Essential Questions for the Lesson How did Hitler and the Nazi party establish a totalitarian fascist regime in Germany? Why did Hitler and the Nazi party appeal to the majority of Germans? Lesson Objectives • Explain the methods the Nazis used to create a totalitarian state in Germany • Use evidence from your study of Nazi Germany to explain why Germany was Fascist • Explain why Hitler was successful in gaining support and popularity from the German people.   4. Warm-up (5 min) “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” Have you heard the above quote before? If so, where? What does this quote mean? Do you agree or disagree with it?

Germans had long valued a strong militaristic Germany since unification By producing an extensive war machine and other manufacturing projects Hitler substantially decreased unemployment Hitler Appealed to the emotions of germans

  9. As we looked at yesterday, through Propaganda, the Nazi’s built a cult of personality around Hitler which portrayed the following: • He always knew what was best for Germany • He was both strong and loving (father analogy) • He produced results Hitler established a Cult of personality
