  1. Inclusion Strategy Group 22.11.10

  2. The vision for SEBD provision in Salford • A commitment that schools and the Local Authority need to work in close partnership to provide high quality provision for vulnerable children. • A need to develop a clear and consistent continuum of provision. • A belief that developing provision on the site of 4 mainstream secondary schools will support inclusion and develop the range of responses to vulnerable children. • An understanding that some children will have difficulty accessing provision on the site of a mainstream school

  3. A staged approach Negotiation and de-escalation Classroom strategies Withdrawal room on location Central PRU provision Shared on site PRU provision Central LSU/Quiet Room 14-19 provision/broader curriculum offer SEBD Specialist School

  4. Re-evaluating our current provision • Taking a measured and informed approach about our current provision • What do schools value and what do we need to re-visit? • What are our statutory functions? • What can we negotiate on? • How can we ensure that we become a pro- active, not re-active Local Authority?

  5. Our priorities • Determine our financial position – both within the LA and beyond with the BSF programme. • Establish protocols which support our vision, aims and ethos. • Develop clear short, medium and long term plans which are cohesive and fully signed up to. • To have the needs of vulnerable groups of children in the centre of our collective thinking. • Raise standards for all whilst closing the gap for the most disadvantaged groups of children.
