  1. Hydroelectric Power HYDROELECTRIC POWER By Miguel Feo

  2. What is Hydroelectric Power and How It Works • Hydroelectric Power is energy produced from water. • Hydroelectricity is 6.6% of America’s electricity supply. • Hydroelectric power is generated by water with a lot of potential energy that then forms into kinetic energy and then ultimately turns in to power transferred to our homes and businesses. • Hydroelectric is very easy to work and is one of the easiest ways to create electricity. In the early 1940’s, Hydroelectricity made up about 40% of America’s electric supply, until other ways to produce energy came in. • The way Hydroelectric Power is produced is first, there needs to be a dam. Then the dam needs water. A turbine inside the dam turns the water into kinetic energy, and then the energy is thrown into the generator and it is then stored in a powerhouse.

  3. How it is used In the World • Hydroelectric Power is used all over the world. It can make light bulbs bright, it can produce electricity for any item that needs it, and it can even make a car run. • Hydroelectric Power is used to make anything that need electric to work. Hydroelectric makes up about 6.6% of the world’s energy supply. • From light bulbs to cars, Hydroelectric energy can do it all.

  4. How is it so good to use • Hydroelectric Power is very cheap and very easy to use. • Hydroelectric is very easy to work and is one of the easiest ways to create electricity. In the early 1940’s, Hydroelectricity made up about 40% of America’s electric supply, until other ways to produce energy came in. • World Power even use this technology such as China, The United States, and many more

  5. Pros of Hydroelectric Power • The cost of using Hydroelectric Power is one of the big things that make it so good to use. Compared to the cost of fossil fuels, Hydroelectric Power is used for a fraction of the price. • Another big pro of Hydroelectric Power is that all you need to produce the energy is using water. It is beneficial because there is no pollution produced from it. • Only a few people have to run the Dam to produce the energy instead of hundreds of people running a Nuclear Power Plant.

  6. Cons of Hydroelectric Power • One of the big problems with Hydroelectric Power is that the power is so limited. Since all rivers have silts, many of the water will eventually run out and the dam will have nothing to use to produce the energy. • Another big problem is the technology. The technology can sometimes not run as efficiently as the other powers in the world. • Dam failures and other technological problems. • Another big one if the environmental problem. Hydroelectric Power can create a problem in animals habitats. Sea animals in water are greatly affected by Hydroelectric Power.

  7. Cost of Hydroelectric Power • The price of Hydroelectric Power is one of the cheapest ways to produce energy. The cost of using Hydroelectric Power is a fraction of the cost of other ways to produce the energy, such as Nuclear Power, Solar Power, and more. • Hydroelectric Power is run by water so the cost is nothing really. • The U.S. government spends 7 billion dollars on Hydroelectric Power. • It depends where the power is located in, to find out the cost of Hydroelectric Power.

  8. Hydroelectric Power in New Jersey • There is currently only one Dam in New Jersey. It is located in Patterson, New Jersey. • The Dam is considered a land mark in New Jersey, because it is the only one in New Jersey. • The Dam was created in 1967 and New Jersey is not considering any plans to built another dam.

  9. Overall Conclusion • Hydroelectric Power is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to produce energy. • The Power is very safe and efficient to use and it is very popular in the world. From China to The United States, the world realizes the value of the energy. • Currently 6.6% uses the energy in the United States, and the number will be increasing in the near future due to it’s efficiently and it’s cheap and simple to use and to produce
