  2. What is a Stem and Leaf Plot? • Each data value is viewed as: • A stem – the leading digit(s) • A leaf – the trailing digit(s) • Each stem is written once • Next to the stem, all the leaves associated with that stem

  3. Quick Little Example – Exam Scores Observations about data: • Lowest is 42 • Highest is 100 Design decision: • So let’s take the hundreds and tens positions as the stem • And the ones digit as the leaf.
