  4. 56 57 58 58 59 59 60 61 61 61 63 First, order your data from least to greatest.

  5. Then, put your data in a stem-and-leaf plot.

  6. The ordered numbers are: 56, 57, 58, 58, 59, 59, 60, 61, 61, 61, 63 • Each STEM stands for the first digit of each number. • Record the tens digits in order from least to greatest.

  7. The ordered numbers are: 56, 57, 58, 58, 59, 59, 60, 61, 61, 61, 63 • Each LEAF stands for the second digit of each number. • Record the ones digits in order from least to greatest.

  8. You can use a stem-and-leaf plot to find the median and the mode.

  9. MEDIAN Find the middle number in a set of numbers. The median is 59 inches. MODE Find the number that occurs most often in a set of numbers. The mode is 61 inches.
