  6. IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNTIES Centralization of Circulation, Cataloguing, Searching and Reporting

  7. Centralization of Circulation Students and teachers will able to view materials available at other district schools Examples: A 6th grade teacher would like to assign a group reading project for Chains in conjunction with the study of the American Revolution. The school library has only has 6 copies. Copies can be obtained from another school in the district. A certain book has caught the attention of a group of students and they would all like to read it together. Students can request copies form other district schools. This encourages leisure reading

  8. Centralization of Searching • Students become familiar with searching techniques at early grades. • Teachers working with a particular reading level can widen their choices of material.

  9. Centralization of Reporting Ability to track patron records across district. Checkouts and fines follow students Teachers can view reading history. Ability to track un-returned materials decreases loss. Consistency of information during school transition years- Elementary-Middle and Middle-High School

  10. Other Centralization Benefits • Consistency in web-sites • Library staff can share best practices • Encourages collaboration • Students can share information (favorite books, etc.)

  11. Reporting Features • Reports can be set up to run automatically Ex: Daily Overdue Report Benefit: More time for Library staff to interact with students and teachers. • Each school in District reporting same information.

  12. District Advantages • Control budget with a centralized solution that eliminates the need for servers at each location. • Ability to examine district-wide trends. • Ability to take advantage of bulk purchases. • Follett customer service allows District IT staff to focus on other issues. • .

  13. Asset Management Reporting capabilities of Follett Destiny integrate cataloguing and circulation. This streamlines reporting. Example: Circulation period of laptops is 24 hours. Reporting requirements are time sensitive. If equipment is not returned, it is not available for other students. As we expand our technology initiatives, the cost of each piece of equipment will require efficient and accurate reporting of circulation.
