  5. EmployeeResponsibility Comply with OSHA standards, rules, and regulations No person may be fired or treated with discrimination for filing a complaint

  6. Standards for HCW • The Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals Standard • Bloodborne Pathogen Standard

  7. Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals Standard • Requires that employers inform employees of all chemicals and hazards in the workplace • MSDS (material safety data sheets) • Train on use, clean up, PPE

  8. Bloodborne Pathogen Standard • Protect health care workers from diseases cause by exposure to body fluids • Hepatitis B Vaccine (HBV)

  9. -Inspections, Investigations, and Reporting • May require attendanceand testimony of witnesses under oath • Investigate records • Employees can request investigations

  10. Citations If a violation of a standard is made, a citation will be issued. Give time for response/compliance
