  5. Success in Florida • There was a 9.6% increase of SAT test takers in Florida • Florida continues to outpace the nation • Florida’s African American students outperformed their counterparts nationwide on the Critical Reading and math sections of the SAT • FL CR +3 US -2 • FL Math +1 US -1

  6. More success • 20.7% increase of Hispanic students taking the SAT compared to 14.8% nationwide • Florida’s Hispanic students continue to outperform their counterparts in all sections of the SAT

Advanced Placement Success • For the second year in a row, Florida experienced the greatest one year increase of AP Exam Test Takers. • For the second year in a row, Florida had the largest one year increase for African American AP Test Takers. • For the second year in a row, Florida had the largest one year increase for Hispanic AP Test Takers.

  8. Advanced Placement • The number of African American test takers increased 29.1% compared to 17.% in the US. • The number of 3-5 increased 22.7% compared to 16% nationwide.

  9. Out of 100 9th Graders…

  10. 18 will graduate from college within 5 years. 70 will graduate from high school on time… 27 will remain in college through a second year… 39 will enter college immediately after high school…

  11. Did You Know? • 28% of all college freshmen are enrolled in one or more remedial courses. • 42% of freshmen enrolled in two-year institutions are enrolled in remedial courses. • 20% of freshmen enrolled in four-year institutions are enrolled in remedial courses.
