  1. Classroom Expectations Math 1 Miss Strong Room 404 “The formulation of the problem is often more essential than its solution, which may be merely a matter of mathematical or experimental skill.” ― Albert Einstein

  2. Student Behaviors • Be prompt • Be ready to learn when you walk through the door. • Follow directions • Be prepared • Bring all materials with you to class • Be a polite and positive participant • Contribute your (relevant) thoughts and listen to others’ ideas as well; I want to hear what you have to say.

  3. Show Respect • Value yourself— your thoughts and opinions count. • Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. • Honor the ideas and opinions of others. • Offer to help. • We are working toward a common goal.

  4. Routine • Quietly walk into the classroom. • Have materials ready. • Hand in homework to the appropriate bin. • Begin Warm-Up. • If the teacher is missing from the room, continue to follow this routine.

  5. Policies & Guidelines • Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom (except for water). • Must be seated when the tardy bell rings. • Excused and Unexcused Tardys • Enter quietly, put note on my desk, and begin working. • As per SHS student handbook, after the 4th tardy you will be given detention. • Absences • Homework binder located next to homework bins. • Copy the assignment and retrieve handouts • If you are absent you have the number of days plus one to make up your homework.

  6. Policies & Guidelines • Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in the SHS handbook. • No cell phones or other electronic devices in the classroom. • Do not disturb other groups. • Take hall pass with you whenever you leave the classroom • Limited bathroom breaks. • If you abuse bathroom breaks you will no longer be able to have them.

  7. Grading • Our Grading Scale • 93-100% = A • 85-92% = B • 77-84% = C • 70-76% = D • Below 70% = F • Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage and are rounded up when necessary. • Grades are based on: • Class participation • Warm-Up • Completion of homework • Quizzes (group & individual) • Tests • Final • Grades are posted online and updated weekly. Homework 30% Quizzes 20% Tests 50%

  8. Calculators • Each student will receive a number. This number will correspond to a calculator in the room. You may use this calculator during class or any time you need to come into the room to work. However, this calculator will never leave the room. If the calculator is damaged, vandalized, or gone, you will be held responsible and will be required to purchase a new one. If you ever notice anything wrong with your calculator come tell me immediately so that you are not responsible for whatever is wrong. • When using the calculator, place your ID in its place. You may retrieve your ID when you return the calculator.

  9. Paper Heading Miss Strong Math 1 Period # Date

  10. Homework • Homework problems will be displayed on the board for each class and will also be located in the Homework Binder and on the Homework calendar. • Unless otherwise instructed, homework will be due the following day from when it was assigned. • Lessons will be aligned to the daily Learning Target, which will be displayed on the board daily.

  11. Missing Homework • Homework is due when you walk through the door. • Late homework will not be accepted. • Class time will not be used to return to your locker to retrieve your homework. • If you do not have your homework, get a pink slip from the MISSING HOMEWORK binder next to the homework bins and turn it in with the homework pile.

  12. My Pledge to Students • I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. • I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. • I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. • I will work with you to meet learning goals. • ALL students will be treated fairly.

  13. Dismissal • The teacher dismisses you, not the bell. • Please do not start packing your things before the bell rings. • I will dismiss you when I have finished my lesson and the room is in the same state as it was when you arrived (i.e. calculators are returned, floor is picked up, etc.)
