  4. Work-ups • Excisional biopsy of ulcer • SCC comprises 90% of all intraoral malignancies (1) flattened polyhedral, round, or ovoid epithelial cells (2) intracellular or extracellular keratinization (3) intercellular bridges Robbins & Cotrans Pathologic Basis of Disease 7thed

  5. Work-ups • Triple endoscopy • Nasopharyngeal • Bronchoscopy • Esophagoscopy • over all rate of second tumor is approximately 14% • Oral cavity/ pharynx: cervical esophagus • Larynx: lungs Schwartz’s Principles of Surgery 9thed

  6. Work-ups • Fine needle aspiration biopsy • diagnostic procedure used to investigate lumps or masses

  7. FINDINGS • Biopsy: Well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma • FNAB: Chronic lymphadenitis
