  5. Once Europe found out about the new land masses (“new” to the Europeans not the Indians), each country tried to send people to colonize and the RACE TO COLONIZE began. What does “RACE TO COLONIZE” mean? A competition to see which country can set up a town or village first. Then that country can claim the land and get powerful and wealthy.

  18. The relationship between the colonists and Indians were not always peaceful. Each group had different beliefs and ways of living. Conflicts led to battles. England/Great Britain sent soldiers to defend the colonists. The English/British also had conflicts with other European countries that were claiming land in North America.

  22. To create peace, the English/British passed the Proclamation of 1763 which was supposed to stop the violence between the Indians and the English/British settlers. This became one of the many events that angered the colonists and led to the Revolutionary War.
