  4. Protocol dalam Internetworking • Dalamsebuah internetworking terdapatbeberapa protocol antara lain yaitu: • IP, • ICMP, • IGMP, • ARP / RARP, • DHCP, • BOOTP. • Protocol-protocol tersebutdigunakandalam proses koneksiantara client dengan server Dalamsebuahjaringan.

  6. Fungsi Protocol • Untukmengontroljaringan. (ICMP) • Untukmelacakjalankesuatutujuan. (TRACEROUTE) • Untukmengirim data. (IGMP) • Untukmengubah IP menjadi MAC address atausebaliknya. (ARP/RARP)

  7. Fungsi Protocol • Untukmenggantikanhardiskpadasaat booting dalamsuatujaringan. (BOOTP) • Untukmemberikan IP kepada client secaraotomatis.(DHCP)

  8. DHCP • Berfungsiuntukmemberikan IP Adressecaraotomatiske computer yang menggunakan protocol TCP/IP. • DHCP bekerjadenganrelasi Client server, dimana DHCP server menyediakansuatukelompok IP Addres yang dapatdiberikanke DHCP client. • Dalammemberikan IP Addresini, DHCP hanyameminjamkan (Lease) IP Address tersebutuntukperiodetertentu.

DHCP • Jikaperiodetersebuttealhdicapai, makaIp Address tersebutdapatdiberikanke computer lain yang memerlukan, kecualiperiodesewadiperpaanjang. • Jadipemberian IP address iniberlangsungsecaradinamis. Jikasuatu computer beradapada subnet jaringan yang berbeda, harusdigunakan DHCP relay agent agar computer tersebut bias mendapatkan IP address, kecuali Router yang dipakaimengandung BOOTP ( RFC1542) yang dapatmerusakpermohonan IP Address.
