  11. Problem Analysis • Codec and Area Codes • Problem Statement • There are many method used to compress video, which require a codec in order for the customer to view the video, or DVDs that has a particular area code that will prevent customer to view our videos. • Possible Solutions • Our company will contact video studios to give us disks that can be played in all regions. We will also unify all the videos to use the same codec, and we will also supply a codec pack for our customer to be able to view all our videos.

  12. Problem Analysis • Performance • Problem Statement • High demand from the web user who are either downloading video to their hard disks or viewing from Video on Demand will impact the main system’s performance. • Possible Solutions • Separate web users from the real world clients. Have one server that hosts all the videos for Video on Demand and for download, while the other server will be used to focus on in-store business.

  13. Problem Analysis • Profit • Problem Statement • Online piracy and video sharing reduced the numbers of chance that our video was being rented, thus reducing our profit. • Possible Solutions • Our company will propose advertisements or discounts to encourage more customers to come to rent our product.

  14. Problem Analysis • Training • Problem Statement • When the new system is developed, it will take time before the managers/employees/clients will get accustomed to it. • Possible Solutions • The company will ensure that the system designer make the software as user-friendly as possible, and will try to make sure that the system is flawless to reduce unnecessary trouble and conflict between the employee and client.

  15. Problem Analysis • Payment Methods • Problem Statement • With many finance institutions and their unique payment methods, the system might not cover all of the payment methods that the customers might use. • Possible Solutions • Try to ask from government institutions to get a list of all the financial institutions currently registered, and contact the institutions for information on their payment options.

  16. Requirement Analysis • There are a few fundamental requirements that the system must meet before it could be used. We require the following systems to support the business’ functionality: • Member Service System • Employee System • Ordering System • Stocking System • Promotion System • Statistical System • Movie Service System

  17. Member Service Systems • Member Subscription • Modify Member info • Cancel Subscription • Sign-in System • Sign-out System

  18. Employee Systems • Add employee • Dismiss employee • Modify employee info • Search employee

  19. Order System • Purchase / Renting Order • Network Purchasing Order • Remove from Cart • Add to Cart • Check Order • Cancel Order

  20. Stock System • Inventory • Deliver Order

  21. Promotion System • Add New Promotion • Browse Promotion • Expire Promotion

  22. Statistical Functions • Generate Income Report • Generate Member Report • Generate Hit-o-Meter

  23. Movie Functions • Add a New Title • Modify Movie Info • Delete Movie Title • Search Movie Title • Download Movie • Video on Demand

  24. System Requirement • We believed that we would require at least 20 computers in the server room to act as our data storage and to handle the heavy stress from user’s queries. • To provide customer with seamless Video on Demand experience, the company would require a very high speed digital internet connection. • Since Video on Demand requires a very large disk space to store all the videos that we are currently offering, we believed that we will be seeking estimate of 100 tera-bytes for the disk storage.

  25. IS Requirement • We will be using PHP scripts to generate very dynamic web pages and to ensure efficiency due to PHP’s flexible adaptability. • Since the main web server would have the most stress, so we’d require high memory and CPU to ensure that the processes get done rapidly.
