  2. Class Room Expectations • Students are expected to be in their assigned seats when the bell rings. • Leave food in the cafeteria. You may have a drink in class, but do not ask to leave to buy a drink. • Students will arrive in class with notebook, paper, and pen/pencil every day. • One speaker at a time, students are expected to raise their hands for permission to speak. • Students are expected to be attentive during all classroom activities. • Students will Sleep at home and not in class!

  3. Class Room Expectations Students will respect others, yourself, and property through your speech and your actions. Students will keep this room clean. Chairs will pushed under their desks at the end of class. No one leaves until the room is in order! All homework is due on the due date and at the beginning of class.

  4. You must have your ID on correctly to enter MY CLASSROOM!!! Correct!

Restroom Procedures • If the pass is available you may use the restroom. • Pass is located at the back of the room on the desk. • Sign out on the RESTROOM FORM on the computer • Type your name: Last name First Name • Example: Woodward, Adam • Choose your Class Period from the drop down box • Type in the date EX: 10 Aug 2011 • Look at the bottom of the screen for time and date. • Type in the time leaving. • Look at the bottom of the screen for time and date. • Do not submit until you return from the restroom! • When your return Type in the time returning • Submit the form! • Return the pass!

Class & Homework Expectations • All work is due the day it is due! • Outlines and other documents that must be turned in will be placed in the turn in tray for your class period with in the first 5 minutes of the class period. • All work not in on time will be considered late! • The tray is located at the bookcase in the front of the room. • Presentations are due on the due date. Unless told differently by ME! • Ex: If speeches are due on August 29, 2011 expect that you will be called on that day.

  8. Grading • Summative Grade – 60% • 6 weeks Tests, Final Outlines, Presentations, & Projects • All Work – 40% • 3 weeks Quests, Rough Drafts Outlines & daily work • Formative – 0% • Quizzes, Pre-rough Drafts, Practice Speeches and class work deemed preparation work.

  9. Semester by 3 week periods! • 3 weeks • Lecture & Notes • Activities • In class assignments • Homework • Quiz - Formative • Quest – All Work • Test - Summative • Outlines – Summative, All Work, Formative • Presentation – Summative

  10. School Policies will be enforced! • Electronic Entertainment Devices and Inappropriate Material: • Possession and/or distribution of materials that are inappropriate for the school setting or that endorse actions endangering the health and safety of students is not permitted. • This includes the inappropriate use of technology/computers by entering unauthorized sites or other activities that the district identifies as inappropriate. • Electronic entertainment devices are prohibited on campus except when permitted in certain instructional settings. These items may be confiscated and held for a period of time. • Students who choose to bring these items to school should note that we are not responsible for lost or stolen equipment.

  17. Debate grading! Formative 40% - Daily, weekly, Article work, Debate Research and class activities. Summative 60% - Cases, Selections, Tournament Participation, and Extemp Speeches.
