  3. Your Role • Become an extension of the entrepreneur and his/her idea. • Work together to develop a powerful plan and pitch that will resonate with funders and that the entrepreneur can implement. • Access point for outside perspectives – from this program; from your own network and experiences • A first critical set of eyes for the idea/plan – making you a surrogate for funders • Leading and following: • you are doing extensive research • you are guided by the program’s schedule • you have direct access to HUB mentors and faculty • but, you are working on and with the entrepreneur’s own ideas

  4. Channeling Investor Questions • What is the gap in the market? • What are you actually producing/delivering? • What steps are you taking to make this project executable? • where are you starting from (what are you bringing to the table) • have you identified your critical path • do you have the right people on board • how will you know if you are making progress • What makes this project investable? • can you articulate the required investment • have you targeted the right kind of funder(s) • can you deliver the required rate of return • Have you identified and addressed potential risks? • Can you deliver a (matching) full plan and elevator pitch?

  5. Our Semester • Tues., January 24; Elements of a Successful Plan / Pitch • Wed., February 15 (Entrepreneurs are in Town!); Obstacles – Financial and Non-Financial • Tues., March 6; Who are the customers? • Wed., March 21; Plan Burning • Tues., April 10; Mitigating Financial Risk • Wed., April 25; Final Plan Pitches • 3 minutes to present the “elevator version” of your plan (pitch) • then man tables to discuss the details of your plan • invited judges will listen to elevator pitches and then probe teams on details at their respective tables

  6. Typical Week • Schedule touch points with your entrepreneur (~30 minutes) • combination of Skype and email • completed tasks are reviewed and next steps are determined • Remainder of team hours (~2 hours per week per team member): • conduct required background research • attend program sessions when scheduled • meet and work with mentors, as needed • discussions with faculty, as needed • Ad hoc touch points with your entrepreneur (as needed) • sharing and discussing a-ha moments • after inspiring meeting (at HUB, with mentor) Requires a combination of commitment and flexibility
