  2. PURPOSE DISCUSS THE ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF COMMUNICATION IN CREATING AWARENESS AND FOSTERING INVOLVEMENT, INPUT AND FEEDBACK DURING THE SELF STUDY.

GOALS AND OVERVIEW OF SELF STUDY PROCESS • create an accurate analysis of university strengths and challenges • identify action items to guide ongoing planning • obtain broad campus participation and input into the self study • to make the process enjoyable to members of the Accreditation Steering Committee and campus at large

Establish the Steering Committee Begin project management activities Workshops Create webpage Project calendar Design templates to standardize information collection Enjoyment Poem “Accreditation Nevermore” (with apologies to Edgar Allen Poe) This rendition was shared across campus with various groups. Stress Kits – Erasers Penny Balloons Marbles Aspirins Pen Frisbee Band-aids Highlighter Post-its Rubber Bands Battery Tape Safety Pin Calendar Heresy Kiss Chocolate Commitment A promise was made by the co chairs to provide chocolate at every steering committee Meeting. Data Collection and Feedback Activities Exhibits Department Self Studies Vitae Faculty Survey Wrote first draft of each Standard Attended NWCC Accreditation Workshop Enjoyment – Hot Sauce Contest Steering committee participated in a much debated hot-sauce eating contest Poem “Ode to Chocolate” Celebrating the amount of chocolate consumed by Steering Committee to date. Finalized first draft of entire self study One Year Out

  11. Distribution of Second Draft • Distributed second draft to all Division Vice Presidents • Posted second draft on line • Feedback form for second draft were provided on line and in hard copy

  12. Executive Summary Communication was distributed to the following groups: Board of Trustees National Advisory Board President’s Council Dean’s Council Other advisory groups

  13. ENJOYMENT!!!! ORIGINAL WORK - “Twas the Year Before Accreditation” set to “Twas the Night Before Xmas”

  14. CAMPUS WIDE AWARENESSFeedback Campaign on Second Draft • Solicited and received written and verbal feedback from all areas on campus • Received focused feedback from targeted groups Vice Presidents Academic Deans Directors Student Government Senators Trustees Faculty Senate Members

On-line “Accreditation Super Challenge” Contest • Over a six week period more than 300 faculty, staff and students answered super challenge questions daily and completed for prizes. • Sample Question – What are the university wide strategic priorities identified by the University Planning Council?

  16. “Accreditators” T-shirts and Logo and Photo Shoot • The Steering Committee Members soon became known across campus as the “Accreditators” • The Logo and Photos of the “Accreditators”, part of the awareness and feedback campaign, were used on posters, in the school newspaper and in the Union Building as table tents.

  17. Meet the Authors • Now it is your turn to tell the authors just what you think. • Free autographs • Food, Prizes, Activities Rave reviews speak to the excitement of this text – This is Pulitzer Prize Stuff – A real thriller in every sense of the word – Highly recommended reading!

  18. The Big Feed and Read Final Editing Session You are invited to come read/edit the self study document before it goes to final printing. Approximately 45 individuals including campus leaders and Steering Committee Members were invited for breakfast and to critique the self-study

  19. Published in E-Bulletin, Cybercats, and Local Papers Prepared a welcome skit for the Evaluation Team Public Notice Enjoyment

  20. AA Meeting (Accreditation Awareness)CAMPUS Orientations A series of campus workshops and discussion forums, for faculty, students and staff, were scheduled to prepare the entire campus for the site visit.

  21. ENJOYMENT!!!!!! • Post Campus Party – entire campus invited • Party at the President’s home for the Steering Committee
