AZ Water Bank and Aqueducts • The Arizona Water Banking Authority (AWBA; Water Bank) established in 1996 (long term water supplies to AZ) • increase utilization of the state's Colorado River entitlement and develop long-term storage credits for the state. • AWBA stores or "banks" unused Colorado river water to be used in times of shortage to firm (or secure) water supplies for Arizona. • benefit municipal and industrial users and communities along the Colorado River, fulfill the water management objectives of the state, store water for use as part of water rights settlement agreements among Indian communities, and assist Nevada and California through interstate water banking

Flood Prevention: Comprehensive Plan • Provides public information and education • Complies with Arizona Revised States • Complies with Community Rating System requirements of National Flood Insurance Program • Identifies project and program activity prioritization for watersheds • Determines level of future fiscal responsibilities for flood mitigation

Testing the Waters • More than 5 million tests and measurements conducted each year • Tested for more than 100 substances • Monitored throughout the year to ensure that it meets the standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the AZ Department of Environmental Quality, and the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department

  9. Water Quality Division • Ensures safe drinking water • Reduces impact of pollutants • Issues Permits to protect AZ waters from point sources of pollution • Manages the Quality of water resources • Regulates the discharge and treatment of wastewater
