Background • MPA was first launched on 5/04/97 Grace Bandawe conference centre, Blantyre • Executive committee members • Chairman: Prof. Robin Broadhead, CoM • Vice: Dr Charles Mwansambo, KCH • Secretary: Mr Kabambe, Chancellor College • Treasurer: Dr Grace Malenga, QECH • Public Relations Officer: Mr Phillips Chimpeni, Avenues Clinic, Blantyre.

Aims and Objectives • Aim: • The promotion of child health and welfare throughout Malawi. • Objectives • To act as advocate for the promotion of child health in Malawi • To act as advocates for children with special needs and all disadvantaged children. • To promote the dissemination of knowledge on paediatric diseases and conditions through scientific meetings and other appropriate fora. • To encourage research in all aspects of paediatric diseases. • To hold a general meeting every year. • To provide a forum for communication with fellow African and other international and and national bodies.

  4. Membership • Clinicians working in any aspect of paediatrics and community paediatrics including general and private practitioners. Members shall pay membership fees as determined by the committee. • Associate members shall include interested nursing, paramedical, students or other health workers. • Application for the membership or associate membership shall be submitted to the MPA secretary
