Two PrimaryGoals • Enhancement of research activities in the various components of the enabling technology through better understanding of the computationally demanding science and engineering applications, • Development of more sophisticated models and more effective problem solving strategies in various science and engineering applications through better understanding of the enabling information technology.

  3. Administrative Structure • A director and an associate director • Faculty advisory committee. • Executive committee: V.P. for Research, V.P. for Information Technology, and Deans of Science, and Engineering. • External advisory board of leaders in academia, national laboratories, and industry.

  4. Workshops in 2002-03 AY • CRI plans to hold three 2-day workshops: • the first two will be focused on the computational challenges in Biology, and Nanotechnology, • the third workshop will be focused on recent advances in parallel numerical algorithms, parallel architectures, compilers, and performance evaluation.

  6. Current Resources • 2 Faculty positions (Sci. + Eng.) • leverage: 4 positions to be absorbed by departments after three years • 5 Graduate fellowships per year • each @ $13,2000 per year • 5 PRF summer faculty salaried grants • each @ $6,000 • 4 rooms on the 2nd floor of the Math Building.
