  4. How to Determine the Charge of A Transition Metal, Sn or Pb • Most transition metals, Sn and Pb have more than one possible charge. • Therefore, you can not look at group numbers • Example: Manganese can be Mn2+ , Mn3+ , Mn4+ , Mn5+ , Mn6+ , Mn7+
