Implementation of IPA 2008 One service contract (4M€) for AL, BA, ME, MK, RS and XK - also HR, TR but to a limited extent – to be finalised in July 2011 Implementation of Pilot Projects Implementation of Technical Assistance(some figures between March and December 2010) Working groups, seminars… 394 persons in 102 meetings Ad hoc consultancies 9 experts in 14 activities Training courses 137 persons in 15 courses Pilot project workshops 168 persons in 11 workshops Traineeships 10 trainees (7 Estat, 2 HU, 1 SK) 2

  3. Overview on IPA 2009 Main news: grants to 5 countries HR, IS, TR, MK and RS Total budget 5.9 M€ of which • - 5 grants 3.5 M€ • - 2 service contracts 2.0 + 0.4 M€ • 1 service contract mainly for AL, BA, ME, XK • 1 service contract to complement the grants

Implementation of IPA 2009 Grants and service contracts started in Dec 2010 (duration 24 m), except IS grant in Jan 2011 (duration 23 m) MS, RS - technical assistance activities - IPA 2008 will be used until all its money are spent Under IPA 2009, all beneficiaries are asked to: Follow the guidelines for IPA 2009 grants & service contracts Pay attention to quality and timeliness of supporting documents i.e. ToRs, justification for add participants, activity reports… 4

  5. IPA 2010 Iceland is the only beneficiary Grant worth 1 M€ with two data collection projects: Population and housing census Agriculture statistics Evaluation of the grant application was done in Feb 2011 Grant contract is in preparation and will be signed in March/April 2011 5

  6. Overview about IPA 2011 Total budget 8.2 M€ of which grants 5.0 M€ service contract 3.2 M€ Grants to 5 countries: HR, IS, TR, MK, RS One service contract mainly for AL, BA, ME, XK Many good project ideas received from Eurostat units 6

IPA 2011 – advice to the grant beneficiaries Beneficiaries are expected to apply for all data collection projects proposed by Eurostat IPA 2009 has become complex because the beneficiaries did not include all projects in their grant applications Links between the service contract and the grants are disturbed if a beneficiary does not cover all data collection projects 8

  12. IPA 2012 and beyond Annual IPA 2012, IPA 2013 Annual budgets similar to that of IPA 2009, around 6 million EUR Proportion of direct grants likely to increase 12
