Who are the partners involved? • Hope Chapel - http://www.hopenc.org/ • A Christian church with 10+ years of community-centric outreach in and around the Apex, NC area • Southern Sand Volleyball – http://southernsandvolleyball.org • A newly formed non-profit volleyball organization with resources having 10+ years of experience in both running outdoor volleyball events and volleyball coaching/instruction in the Triangle area and around NC.

Complex OverviewGreat Location • Within 25 miles…. • 1+ million people in surrounding Triangle area • Huge volleyball player base (Facebook statistics) • 30K+ people in area who like Beach Volleyball and/or Volleyball • Juniors - 5K+ Females, 1K+ Males • Adults – 18K+ Female, 10K+ Males • 200K+ across North Carolina

Sand Volleyball 101 • One of the most watched sports at Olympics • 2013 Sports & Fitness Industry Association Topline Report showed almost 500,000 new participants in 13-25 yr old female demographic alone took up the sport since 2007. • Sand players Misty May and Kerri Walsh are most recognizable figures in U.S. volleyball • NCAA emerging sport with close to 40 school fielding programs and growing fast. Sand Volleyball in North CarolinaHUGE Growth with Juniors • 2006 - vh1vball in Triangle starts a series of junior tournaments [Note: juniors branch of vh1vball is now Southern Sand Volleyball) • 2011 - Carolina Region/USA Volleyball’s Junior Beach Tour created • Statewide series of tournaments • 21 events in 2013. 1000+ teams. (7 of which were in Triangle) • Largest event - Carolina Grand Slam (a USA Beach National Junior Tour event) 143 teams • 2012/2013 – NC High School Sand Volleyball Association formed to promote sport at high schools • 9 participating schools including Apex High School with projections of 20-30 for 2014 • 2013 – Close to 7000 NC juniors that are USA Volleyball members Hope Chapel’s Hailey Brooke McFadden 2013 Carolina Region Jr Beach Championships – Emerald Isle

Other Programming • Beach Tennis – played on sand volleyball court with net lowered using paddles and depressurized tennis balls North American Sand Soccer Championships – VA Beach – From www.sandsoccer.com Beach Soccer – smaller field played in 5 on 5 fashion with higher scoring than traditional soccer
