  1. PowerLogic Branch Circuit Power Meter (BCPM) Need monitoring at each branch circuit?

  2. PowerLogic BCPM The BCPM monitors a complete Power Distribution Unit (PDU) • CT strips monitor the circuits • Monitor 84 circuits with a single BCPM • Auxiliary inputs monitor the mains • Two inputs for auxiliary CTs (3-phase, 4 wire) • Auxiliary CTs ordered separately

  3. Comparison: BCM and BCPM

  4. Product Selection Guidance:Branch Current Monitor (BCM) and Branch Circuit Power Meter (BCPM) Select the BCPM for the following: • Power and energy measurements at either the branch circuit or mains level • Power, energy or current measurements on 84 branch circuits with a single device • Current, energy or power measurements on the mains • Advanced alarming capabilities, including trip alarms and user-defined thresholds for high-high, high, low and low-low alarms • Accurate measurements at low current levels, down to ¼ A, on each branch circuit • Select the BCM for the following: • Current only measurements on 42 branch circuits • Simple alarming, including high and high-high alarm levels • Need a split –core CT option

  5. BCPM does the work of an MCM + BCM • Auxiliary (mains) metering • Auxiliary metering is equivalent that of the MCM • Two 3 phase, 4 wire auxillary inputs • 1/3 V output CTs • Auxillary CT’s ordered separately Circuit metering: • Two or four CT strips with 21 channels per strip • Max Current: 100 A CTs

  6. BCPM Accuracy • Auxillary metering: • Current: 2% of reading from 1-10% of rated current; 1% from 10-100% of rated current • Voltage: 1% of reading from 90 to 277 V, Line to Neutral • Circuit metering: 0.25 A to 2 A2 A to 100 A Current: 3% of reading 2% of reading Energy: 4% of reading 3% of reading

  7. New Measurements on the BCPM Key Measurements: • Energy • Real Power per phase • Power Factor • Total • Per phase • Voltage • Line to line and average L-L of 3 phases • Line to neutral and average L-N of 3 phases • Current per phase • Frequency (Phase A)

  23. Frequently asked questions • Can the new BCPM printed circuit board (PCB) be used to replace the old BCM PCB for a retrofit application? • No. The CT strips shipped with the BCPM are different from those used with the BCM and therefore wont work when interchanged. • What is the standard length of the ribbon cable shipped with the BCPM? • Three feet • Does the BCPM support various type breaker (single, 2 and 3 pole) in a single panel? • Yes, but this type of installation must be performed by PowerLogic Services due to the complex register mapping for this device.

  25. Competition - Summary

  26. CompetitionPDI BCMS and BCMS Plus - Overview • Competitor: PDI • Product: BCMS and BCMS Plus • Number of Circuits Monitored: 84 • Mains Monitoring: No, summation of branch currents only • Split-Core CT Support: Yes • Power per Panelboard: Yes (BCMS Plus Only) • Power per Branch Circuit: No • Onboard Memory/Event Log: None • Communications: Modbus over RS-485 • Software: None

  27. Two feature sets available: BCMS and BCMS Plus BCMS measures current only BCMS Plus adds voltage measurements and power and energy at the panel board level The BCMS and BCMS Plus do not monitor the mains current. They sum the branch breaker currents to report current per panelboard. CompetitionPDI BCMS and BCMS Plus - Measurements

  28. CompetitionPDI BCMS and BCMS Plus - continued • BCMS Plus differs from the BCPM in the following ways: • No No inputs for Mains CTs. The BCMS does not monitor mains current, but instead calculates total current by summing the individual current values for each breaker • The BCMS only reports power and demand values for the entire panel board, not per phase • The BCMS quotes 2% accuracy for measured current, but does not give an accuracy range Accuracy: Current – 2% or 0.1 Ampere, whichever is greatest • BCMS specification does not provide a range of current where it is accurate • PDI has suffered in the past from poor product quality and questionable accuracy • PDI makes hardware only and is not able to sell a system or end-to-end solution
