  1. The Urinary System Tiannah and Abbey

  2. Introduction • The Urinary system consists of kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra. • The urinary system works with the lungs. • From the kidneys urine travels down two thin tubes called ureters. Then down to the bladder. • The ureters are abut 20 to 25cm long. • The bladder is a hollow muscular organ that is shaped like a helium balloon.

  3. What’s the difference? • boy In males, the urethra runs the length of the penis which is about 20cm long and it opens a the end of the penis. • Girl In females, the urethra is about 3.8cm to 5.1cm long and sits between the clitoris and vagina. kidneys ureters urethras In both of the men and woman's urinary system there is everything is the same except for the urethra length. bladder http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/10-shocking-facts-about-urinary-tract-infections/

  4. Bladder • The bladder is a balloon shaped muscular organ that holds the body’s waste. The bladder is emptied when it gets full, a normal healthy bladder can hold up to almost half a litre of urine comfortably for 2-5 hours. Bad bladder • Go to toilet more than 5-8 times in 24 hours? • Get up more than once a night? • Drink less than the normal fluid average intake for a day, 6-8 cups? • Go to the toilet 'just in case'? • Wet yourself when you cough, laugh, sneeze, exercise, etc.? • Have an urgent need to pass urine? • Leak before you get to the toilet? • Push and strain to move your bowel? If you have said 'Yes' to any of the above, you may be developing bad bladder habits. FACT Have you ever needed to go to the toilet but can’t!!! Soon you will discover that you have a pain around your bladder area. Why? The bladder is full and has swelled up, for the pain to go away you need to empty it by going to the toilet.

  5. Kidneys • The kidneys are two funny bean shaped organs. Kidneys represent only 0.5% of the body’s total weight. The kidneys separate the good blood and bad. This then cleans the blood, the waste that doesn’t help in the body then gets sucked out into the bladder ready to be emptied, the blood that was left behind is then ready to go back into the blood flow.
