  10. When and where to start? • Start early (year 2?) • Develop a good CV & portfolio • Select good examiners • Locate conferences with ‘early career’ streams • Be visible! And talk to people!

  12. Planning the transition from HDR student • Adjunct Postdoctoral Research Associate Program • Alumni • Sessional tutoring • Short project contracts/research assistant (industry/university)

  13. Not as scary as may seem • Lots of support for that next stage (Eg. ECR ‘handicap’ for grants, goodwill etc) • Opportunities (eg. ageing workforce) just need to be able to ask for help, be open to opportunities and be creative. Good luck and enjoy!
