  2. Characters • Chu Ju-main character- 14 years old • Hua- baby daughter • BaBa- dad • Yi Yi-mean grandmother • Mom • Han na- Mom when Chu Ju runs away

  3. Favorite character • My favorite character was Han Na. The reason it was Han Na was because I thought she was the one who cared about Chu Ju the most. She was always nice, didn’t demand her to always be working. She fed her, everything that Chu Ju needed to live.

  4. Plot • The plot is very frightening. First in the beginning Chu Ju runs away from home because in China you are only allowed to have 2 children per family. It is said that a boy is the only one who can take care of the elderly. So Chu Ju’s family has a girl and the family is going to give the baby to a mean orphanage. So instead of the baby leaving Chu Ju does.

  5. Plot continued • When she runs away she ends up with a family with 2 annoying boys, a mean dad though a nice mom. They work on a fishing boat and Chu Ju helps them along her journey. After a while Chu Ju tells the mom her tragic story and the mom says “You need to return to you’re home.”

  6. Plot • So instead of going home, she finds a job for digging for worms. She also works for one of the meanest women in the THE WORLD. Though, after a while, she got kicked out. • Then she found a job for making rice paddies for Han Na. Han Na had a son who went to Shanghai. He came back and invited Chu Ju to come with him. She said sure because she told Han Na the story and Han Na said the same thing. So on her way to Shanghai she took a bus home and family was happy to see her.

  7. Rating • WW-Wikioker • I dislike this book because I think a girl should read it rather than a boy. I think this, because if you’re a girl you would be saying I am so glad I don’t live in China. If you were a boy you don’t really care.
