  2. Performance Labels • Beginning with 2005 Accountability results, a school will be labeled Academically Unacceptable (AUS) if its Baseline School Performance Score (SPS) is below 60 • Academic Warning label has been deleted Bulletin 111, Section 1101

  3. Annual Measurable Objective (AMO) For 2005, 2006, and 2007 Accountability results, the AMO will increase to: • 47.4 % in ELA • 41.8 % in MATH Bulletin 111, Section 705

  4. School Improvement (SI) • SI1 has changed to Academic Assistance (AA) • Six levels of AA • School Improvement levels 2-6 remain the same Bulletin 111, Chapters 14 and 15

  5. Academic Assistance Entry • Receives one star performance label and fails to meet its growth target • Receives a two star performance label and does not grow by 0.1 points • Receives a three star performance label and declines more than 2.5 points Bulletin 111, Chapter 14

  6. Academic Assistance Movement • School moves to a higher AA level if • failing to meet growth target AND • new growth target is greater than 8.0 • School remains at the same AA level when • reaching its growth target, but new growth target exceeds 8.0 OR • failing to meet its growth target and new growth target less than or equal to 8.0 Bulletin 111, Chapter 14

  7. Academic Assistance Remedies • Six levels • AA1 – Revise SIP and District will assist with needs assessment and data analyses if SPS < 80 • AA2 - Scholastic Audit (SA), District Assistance Team (DAT) • AA3 – SA (year 2) Bulletin 111, Chapter 14

  8. Academic Assistance Remedies Continued • AA4 – Add a consequence from Corrective Action List • AA5 – Develop Reconstitution “light” plan (school reform targeting low performing subgroups) • AA6 - Implement Reconstitution “light” plan Bulletin 111, Chapter 14

  9. Exit from Academic Assistance • Growth target met AND • New growth target is less than or equal to 8.0 Bulletin 111, Chapter 14

Option Choices (Non-traditional Schools) • Option 1 routes attendance, dropout, and test data to home-based schools and districts where students would attend if not court-assigned to the other programs/ facilities • Option 2 routes data to the program/ facility itself, resulting in its own SPS; the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) has the option to create districts in which to route the data (Marine Institutes) Bulletin 111, Section 3501

Option Choices (Non-traditional Schools) • Students who attend non-traditional schools must be provided an education in the district in which placement is court-assigned to programs/facilities other than public schools • Districts, in which programs/facilities are located, must designate them as having Option 1 or 2 status Bulletin 111, Section 3501; LA RS 17:100.1

  12. Inclusion of Students • A school with 10 % or more of its students transferring from outside the district after October 1, but before the end of spring testing, may request that the LDE calculate what its Growth and Baseline SPS would have been if they had not been included • If newly calculated Growth SPS impacts academic assistance or reward status, then school may request a waiver from any negative accountability action taken by the state Bulletin 111, Section 517

  13. Inclusion of Students (April BESE Proposal) • Probable that out-of-district students who have not been in a school for a FAY will not count in the school’s SPS
