TCDI losses after opening to 5 sig

TCDI losses after opening to 5 sig. TCDIs opened in TI 2 from 4.5 sig to 5 sig on 26-Sep-11 https://edms.cern.ch/document/1162812/1 Logbook entry from 30-Oct-2010 Centring of three TCDIs in TI2 gave a new position for the TCDI.29205, at +0.468 mm (+0.275 mm wrt old centre).

  1. TCDI losses after opening to 5 sig • TCDIs opened in TI 2 from 4.5 sig to 5 sig on 26-Sep-11 • https://edms.cern.ch/document/1162812/1 • Logbook entry from 30-Oct-2010 • Centring of three TCDIs in TI2 gave a new position for the TCDI.29205, at +0.468 mm (+0.275 mm wrt old centre). • This improved the losses by a factor 2-3. • Opening the collimators TCDIH.20950 and TCDIH.29205 from +/-4.5 to +/-5.0 sigma improved the losses by a factor 4 (x2 per collimator). W. Bartmann, TCDI loss comparison

  2. Losses on TCDI BLMs in TI 2 Verena Kain W. Bartmann, TCDI loss comparison

  3. Loss shower on LHC BLMs for B1 factor 4 Q8 MKI Triplet TDI B1 W. Bartmann, TCDI loss comparison

  4. Loss shower on LHC BLMs for B2 Q5 Q7 TDI B2 W. Bartmann, TCDI loss comparison

  5. Summary • Losses on TCDI shown for • hard scraping 4.5 sig • soft scraping 4.5 sig • soft scraping 5 sig • Loss behaviour on LHC BLMs for 4.5 and 5 sig • about 60 injections checked • between Q8 and TDI loss reduction by factor ~4 • same exercise for B2 gives loss increase for time after opening TI 2 TCDIs...so the dataset should not be positively biased wrt SPS scraping and beam quality from injectors W. Bartmann, TCDI loss comparison
