  2. Foot problems related to diabetes contribute significantly to the tribulations of older people with Type II diabetes. Old age is a risk factor for diabetic foot problems and also increases the risk of the main causes of foot ulcers, namely poor blood supply and nerve damage. Other risk factors include limited mobility, smoking, alcohol consumption and bony deformities. It is important that you educate yourself about the factors that lead to foot problems and act upon them.
