  5. SENIOR TRIP The Senior Trip to Florida will be May 2-5, 2013. The total amount for the trip is $390.00 (payments can be made). See Ms. Dee in Guidance for more information.

  7. Selective Service • If you are a man ages 18-25 and living in the US, then you must register with Selective Service. According to law a man must register with Selective Service within 30 days of his 18th birthday. • Register at any Post Office or online at http://www.ss.gov

  13. Burger King Scholars Program • This program has awarded more than 17,000 scholarships to high school students. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average (2.0 or higher), work experience, extracurricular activates and/ or community service.   14. 2013 PHADA Scholarship • PHADA will award 3 scholarships to deserving youth currently residing is a PHAADA agency. Applicant must be a high school senior. Applications are due to PHADA by January 28th, 2013.

  15. The NAVY ROTC Scholarship • This scholarship is valued at approximately $180,000 over a 4 year period this includes tuition, books plus instructional and lab fees.   19. SAT & ACT Announcement (fee waivers) • Seniors and Juniors: If you eat free or reduced lunch you may be eligible for a fee waiver for the SAT Test and College Applications. See your Guidance Counselor for information.

  20. SAT/ACT • Deadline for the January SAT is December 28th, 2012. • Deadline for February ACT is January 11, 2013.

Sat and sat subject test registration for the 2012-2013 school year • SAT Test Registration Fee is $50.00. • Late registration fee is $27.00. • Fee waivers are available for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. If you are not enrolled in the federal (FRPL) program see your counselor for other guidelines to see if you qualify for a fee waiver. Grades (11-12) are allowed two(2) fee waivers for the subject test , and four (4) college application fee waivers. Please see your counselor before registering for the SAT and information.

ACT Test Registration for the 2012-2013 school year • Test Date: February 9, 2013 • Registration Deadline: January 11, 2013 • Late Registration Deadline: January 12-18, 2013 • The site is PurnellSwett. • ACT Test Registration Fee is $50.50 (Plus writing) $35.00 (No writing). • Late registration fee is $22.00. Grades (11-12) are eligible for fee waivers. Fee waivers are available for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.   44. Are you interested in science or math? Then the Summer Ventures in Science and Math Program is for you. This is a cost free program located on four of the University of NC campuses.   49. NC School of Science and Mathematics Applications for the NC School of Science & Mathematics c/o2015 will be accepted from 10th grade students beginning now until Jan. 15th. Interested students are required to take the SAT in October, November, or January of their sophomore year. For more information, see Ms. Roxanne in guidance.

  50. Indian Education - 9th & 10th graders • Indian Education is recruiting 9th and 10th grade students to attend the Colorado Upward Bound Program. The Colorado Upward Bound Program is a 6 week college preparatory program sponsored by the University of Colorado in Boulder Colorado. Students get an opportunity to experience college life during the summer. Please see YDS for more information.
